ORGANIZATIONS

As the primary professional organization for teachers of mathematics in grades K-12, the NCTM provides broad national leadership in issues related to learning and teaching of mathematics at all levels. The National Council of Teachers of Mathematics has released a draft of updated Standards, entitled "Principles and Standards for School Mathematics" at http://www.nctm.org/standards2000/. You can download the draft from the web.

"Focus on Learning Problems in Mathematics"

FOCUS is an interdisciplinary journal, edited jointly by the Research Council for Diagnostic and Prescriptive Mathematics (RCDPM) and the Center for Teaching/Learning of Mathematics (CT/LM). The objective of FOCUS is to make available the current research, methods of identification, diagnosis, and remediation of learning problems in mathematics.

"Mathematics in School" is published five times a year by the Mathematical Association. A variety of articles on teaching and learning mathematics are published, including activities, opinion articles, and lesson plans.
